Hitman LG640 An in-line automated tool
to test wood stiffness prior to processing.

The Hitman LG640 uses stress wave velocity to assess fibre quality of logs for better processing decisions.

Now stiffness and related wood properties can be automatically assessed in-line during preliminary mill processing operation for optimal lumber utilization.

Wood based product properties are dependent upon the quality of the log raw material and the method of processing and natural variations in wood properties resulting from species, site, silviculture and genetics, have made assessment difficult before decisions are finalized about further processing.  The industry has long needed an automatic production line system that measures the qualities of logs at the mill and assesses them for optimal cutting patterns to maximize recovered values.

Now, using the Hitman LG640, logs can be sorted by lumber quality for particular uses.  Using stress wave velocity, automated testing at the debarker or other early processing stage, can assess wood stiffness at mill production line speed so logs can be batched ready for particular log cutting patterns or veneer peeling.

The Hitman LG640 is a robust design easily used on logs being conveyed in the longitudinal or transverse direction.

The Hitman LG640 delivers these benefits to forestry mill operators.

  • Enables objective evaluation of wood stiffness in logs
  • Automatic assessment of each log at mill processing speed
  • Can enable trace of log batch to forest with information on forest quality
  • Identifies log quality on site before entry to processing so cuts can be made better suited to the log qualities
  • Enables precise prediction of MSG/MSR yield from incoming logs
  • Delivers precise information on yield extraction of G1 and G2 veneer grades from incoming logs
  • Quick, efficient, reliable and cost effective
  • Enhanced occupational safety relative to manual testing

Features

  • Automatic testing at mill operating speeds
  • Data capture and interface with mill automation for real time monitoring
  • Robust, industrial strength design and construction
  • Simple maintenance and ease of operation
  • Data basing of results
  • Log conveyor system continues at full operating speed during testing
